The Photographs

This ongoing series has been evolving over the last twelve years. It started being shot exclusively with the 8x10 and is now expanding to include other film formats.

This series was shot over a period of one month in 1996 with an 8x10 camera. I traveled the whole length of route 30 from Atlantic City, NJ to Astoria, OR. The images are of what was seen from the road or within one block of the road.

This series was featured in Black & White.

This series is what I might call lost work. I have been working with the figure outdoors with a medium format camera since the early 1990’s, I just never printed any of the images because I was so focused on my 8x10 work. Last year I started to print some of the recent images. And that has started an exploration of some of the older images.

This series started in 1991 is being shot with the 4x5 film formats. I try to capture a small part of the personality of the model in just a fragment of her body.

This series started in 1996 while shooting on Route 30. I was moved by how the grain elevators dominated the towns I was driving through. This series has continued as I get the chance to explore other states. It has been shot with the 8x10 and 8x20 film formats.

This series began last summer and is on-going. I continue to be struck by the patterns and similarities of the houses. This is also my first series that is digitally captured.
